Confessions of an indie girl

Over the holidays went down to Ft. Lauderdale Florida to
visit my lil' grandparents... They wanted to take me out to Elaine's $1.99
early bird-bagel-deli special breakfast on my last day there - oooohhh what
a treat!.... So off we went, headed for yet another strip mall, me and sweet
little grammy and poor poor grandpa who lost his sight last year..... Well,
let me tell you that this Elaine place was complete pandemonium.... utter
chaos! Senior citizens flocking and screaming from every retirement development
within a 10 mile radius ... it was literally every man for himself as hysterical
old ladies tried to outrun each other for a vacant seat....finally a line
started to form to wait for tables and all of a sudden, this 80 woman cut
me and my grammy! She cut me! Can you believe it!? Why, no one would even
have the nerve to do that in NYC...So, I very politely tried to tell her
that she better take her place at the end of the line and suddenly there
is her 85 year old husband leaping to her defense "oooh.....
are YOU in charge now? he hissed... "are YOU are going to tell us where to
wait for a table?" Well, I start to move in on him trying to explain that
in light of a lack of order we need to maintain order. We have to rise above
the chaos! Think the romans! Think the Greeks. We need to be a CIVILIZED,
ORDERLY SOCIETY!!!!!!
"HUSH!" says grammy, "just let him be! "They'll kill you
here!",
and apparently this was quite correct...why, right down the street in grammy's
very backyard, an elderly man was in line at the movie theatre buying his
tickets (and supposedly taking a long time), when the elderly man behind
him got impatient and uptight. Soon many mean and hurtful words were exchanged
and then! POOF! A punch was thrown at ticket-buying elderly man! he had a
heart attack and died just like that...
good grief... You know, it does kinda leave me quite worried
to think about my sweet little grandparents living in such a hostile environment-
SURVIVOR FT. LAUDERDALE, who would have thought?
